Job Summary:
The Coffee Roastery Assistant supports the daily operations of the coffee roasting facility. This role involves assisting in packaging, quality control, and maintaining equipment to ensure efficient production and high-quality coffee. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, passionate about coffee, and eager to learn everything there is about coffee.
Key Responsibilities:
• Weigh, bag, and label roasted coffee accurately for distribution. • Perform quality control checks, including cupping and sensory sessions • Clean and maintain the roastery workspace, ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety standards. • Assist with inventory management, including tracking green and roasted coffee stock levels. • Support order fulfillment, including preparing wholesale and retail shipments. • Engage with customers or visitors to the roastery, sharing knowledge about the coffee process when required. • Training will be provided on roasting profiles and techniques as directed by the Head Roaster.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Passion for coffee • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle repetitive tasks. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. • Basic knowledge of coffee roasting or previous experience in a coffee-related role is a plus. • Good physical stamina—able to lift 25kg (55 lbs) coffee bags and stand for long periods. • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow procedures accurately. • Excellent teamwork and communication skills. • Driving license preferable
Preferred Experience:
• Experience working in a coffee shop, roastery, or food production environment. • Familiarity with roasting equipment, grinders, and packaging machines. • Basic knowledge of coffee brewing methods and flavour profiling.
